This one has been a long time in the making.

Plumb Bob got the cannister made.
It has a triple start thread which means the lid only rotates 360 deg from on off.
I have added a rotating collar with a reed switch so no extra holes are in the cannister for the switch. Its all done with magnets!
It will take a 10Ah 7.4 volt Li Ion battery giving it a 6 hour + run time AT FULL POWER!!!

The light head is a modified Maglite with 4 Cree Q5 LED's using aspheric lenses.
It has a 3 mode drive offering Hi Med and Low out puts. On Hi this light should produce 800 lumen.

Looks good - but how are you going to boil the kettle without it's cord? ;)

I'll just use one off a salvo light. It may take a bit longer, catch fire and burn the house down but at least it will be black. :bat:

Nice one PH
I think that looks pretty damn good, prolly be 900 lumens if it was all black though.

Black absorbs light. Its a well know fact So the lumen will probably be less.

Having said that I have another one just like the other one which is black ( with an orange cord just to piss off the new owner).

Yes black does absorb light, so if it was all black it would absorb the surrounding light, making things darker. Which would make the light brighter....

Nice one.
What is the cable you used (apart from being god ugly)? Is it just water resistant 3 core extension lead cable?
How many cable glands are in use? Are you still resorting to using 2 in the light head?

I like the orange cable, Not sure why others dont like it.
Its normal heavy duty extention lead type cable with a silicon /rubber jacket as opposed to PVC. This offers a better grip and seal on the glands.

I have just used 1 gland per end. These are pretty good designed glands and I have been told they are 10 bar rated although I have not seen anything to confirm this.
The hole on the lid is not threaded right thru but you could do this easy enough with a tap and have an internal gland too. Having 2 in the light head is possible if you pot the tail cap.
