I'm due to strip down my manifold to give it a full service & clean.

Has anybody tried using an ultrasonic cleaner to do this kind of work before? Does it work well, or would i be best off sticking to a used toothbrush?

Yeah Ultra Sonic and simple green work a treat.
Also a 50-50 mix of water and white vinegar is good to soak the metal parts in for 5 - 10 minutes to get rid of any corrosion.

You dont really need the ultra sonic cleaner but it does help. Especially with O2 cleaning. But then I treat all my regs and valves as if they are going to be used for O2 service.

I see cheap 600ml ultrasonic cleaners on TM (well, cheap in the sense that the next step up is a lot more expensive). Are they going to work for reg and valve parts?

I would guess that an item like that which has been designed for girlies who wanna keep their jewellery clean will have a weak transducer and fairly crap work cycle longevity. The internal volume will not be taking into account the tray that keeps the parts away from the transducer and being an oval will probably yield a usable internal size of something like 12 x 8 x 4 or approx 400mls. Well that's the impression I get from looking at it...

Oh and it's a terrible colour.. Stainless is the only colour for a UC!! :D

There much better...http://www.trademe.co.nz/Jewellery-watches/Other/auction-174364553.htm
