After the first failed leak test in the lake (12meters) I have now fixed the leak by replacing the cable and making sure the glands remained tight.
Just had it in a test pot down to 60 meters and its bone dry and the glass lens is intact. Im pretty happy with that!

Jeezus, who would have thought that a maglite would be a fire hazard. It needs a saftey lock.

That thing will only add to global warming. The polar ice caps will melt, raising sea levels. The only survivors will be those with rebreathers.

After months and months of work it lives!
900lumen of crisp white light.
Must admit im pretty happy with it. The blue head looks cool and the orange cable is quite fashionable. The can its self is pretty ugly , small and light.
Off to Taupo this weekend for some testing.
The light head has already been tested in a pot to 180ft and my other can of a similar design has been tested to 52m in the ocean. This one is stronger.

Any way my halogen light is now up for sale for a really really good price, cheaper than what it cost me to make and I am also willing to sell this light for the right price so I can start on my next project.

PM me for details.

I already did at the start of the thread. Nothing has changed except now I can run it until the battery dies and its now water proof.
Off to Taupo tonight so will try and get some underwater shots and 21w HID vs LED shots

I can feel a hissy-fit coming on if that LED is brighter than my Salvo!

Heads up Packie, you may want to take some dark cellophane down with you so you can darken down the LED if it looks like Flippers gonna start to sulk..

Just looking front on at it, it looks to me like the divergence of the three would be quite high...

Hmm $3000 vs $500.
I'll take 5 of the $500 ones thanks

Im waiting to see the beam shots of the triple LED. They are supposed to be good reflectors and at 3 ( each) times the price of the reflector im using at the mo I would expect it.
But small reflectors will never be as good as large ones. So I would expect a bit of spill.
3 will not be 3 times better the 1 but it should be at least 2 times better.
