Went for a quick splash at the noises yesterday and took a few pics.

I am wondering what you guys do to your pics with photoshop etc. Had a quick chat with Packhorse and Flipper about it yesterday but what about the rest of you?

+1.
The Octi is cool.
Some of the other pic could have benefited by the use of the factory flash. I find its best not to use the "Auto flash" function but either have it on or off as the subject may require.

What program did you use to add your sig to the pics?

I used the software that came with my Canon for this but lots of editing software will allow the following mods.

Lift red levels ,
Drop green slightly
Sharpen
Adjust contrast.

If none of that works then make it B&W and call it arty!

So Katie let you out with her camera again then....

Looks like you had better VIZ and conditions than what was at goat Island, heaps of surge and average VIZ on Saturday...

Nice shots Azza.

I colour correct, adjust levels, crop and re-size if necessary and then i sharpen. ONLY sharpen the lightness channel DON'T sharpen the full colour image. Sometimes i'll remove unwanted objects and make skies bluer etc but only if the image is a good un otherwise you can spend an eternity playing around.
Sharpening. If you have a point and shoot turn off the in cam sharpening-it's crap. Use PS unsharp mask. To do this go to image>mode>lab colour. Then in the layers palette click on channels then click on lightness channel. This is the channel you sharpen. A good all purpose sharpening setting is Amount 85, Radius 1, Threshold 4. This is a subtle type of sharpening and if you feel it's not enough you can apply it again.

Then go back to image> mode and select RGB and your image will be back to full colour with nice sharpening. Use sharpening as the last thing you do.

Anything else you want to know give me a call mate. I'd be happy to help. It's all fairly basic stuff really. It's just knowing what does what in Photoshop really.
