Is soft webbing good enough to be made for harness? I heard that in NZ including at Global Dive, only offer soft webbing. then again i don't know the real difference between soft and hard webbing except that they spell and pronounce differently.

Thanks for the input

Use a more firm webbing for the main harness, but most people use a soft one for the crotch strap.

I need webbing, but talking to Global today and they want $20 per metre! What a fcuking rip off..

Anyone know of a cheaper source? I would prefer a similar type to the standard feel webbing...

Try niknaks http://www.divingniknaks.com/proddetail ... 300&cat=82
..or your local friendly scrap yard for some old seat belts (it's been done before!)

Yeah been thinking about the seat belts but i'd imagine it's a pain with the floppy webbing...

I'm gonna have a look at some commercial tie downs that are 9m long 50mm wide and in varying load ratings.. they're $25 and if I just cut off the fittings should be the go I reckon..

One of our suppliers (Reid & Twiname) do what they call "Industrial weight" 50mm webbing in black for $1.90/m
Cheaper if you buy 100m roll.

It sound like you might be sorted anyway, but if you want I can get a sample for you to look at.

I've received a sample of webbing from bluey and it's great! it's really tough but still with a bit of suppleness and locks on tri glides well. PM me if you want to get some.
