1. are there different types of silicone gel or they are all the same for your o-rings stuffs?

2. Do you need to go to dive shops to get this gel or you can go elsewhere which might be cheaper and better?

Thanks all for your inputs.

A tub of silicon costs around $11 at a dive shop and will last you for years. I bought mine in 2001 and it's still half full

Looks real to me!

Silicon grease for O rings can be brought at many places.
Dotmar in Glenfield sell it and all sized Orings, as does Seal House in East Tamaki. Any EnZed or other hydraulic shop will also have it although not the same range of O rings.

You could also consider Tribolube or christolube to avoid spontaneous combustion of your O rings on those deeper dives.

Can you kindly elaborate more on this? I never heard about this before for o-rings, at least not by diveshops.

Slight Hijack here but,
Packhorse,
would you happen to have the part numbers from Seal House for the orings for the Maglite "upgrades"

I'm guessing that

Next is the lens O ring and the bezel O ring. These have been changed to NBR 70 48mm x 2mm I assume its 48mm ID.

is MOR.044X2N70

and

1st is the tail cap O ring. This is replaced with a NBR 70 124.

is OR.124N70

Am I in the right ballpark?

Those are the sizes on the invoice from seal house. so they should know. what I kow about Orings you could write on the back of a very small stamp with a very large vivid.

and as we all know you never fill your housing with pure oxygen as you cant dive below 6 meters than, and wait ---- just got teh prompt form our DIR firends - yes it will put the team at risk,

therefore Nitrox 32 or 40 is the gas of choice not to bend your images :-)

But seriously now, i am only using chrsitolube

reason for this is a) don't have to worry which grease on which o-rin,
b) dont have to remove all grease from my hands before greasing my high pressure o2 orings
c) can't be bothered to carry =different grease
d) i am on a 7 figure income therefore i can afford $160 for 16onz. ( or this was wht the lds charged me last time for a tube)

But mainly because christolube is COOL.

Papa smurf - have you tried tribulube ???

Packhorse,

We would like to get some Tribolube to you for evaluation. PM me the particulars including your email so I can send over technicals and data sheets for your review.
