Hi Chaps,

I have the option to buy a second-hand Canon underwater housing for my G7 at a good price. It appears to be in very good condition however it is missing the flash diffuser. I tried using it on land without the diffuser & it leaves a huge shadow in the bottom right corner.

... so, does anyone have a spare diffuser from an old housing they want to sell? Does anyone know if all Canon housings use the same flash diffuser?

The store selling the housing has sent an e-mail to Canon NZ to see if they can source a new diffuser but as yet have not had any reply.

Hi Craig,

I don't think the diffusers are the same. The ones for the G9 and G10 certainly differ from each other.

I've managed to break my diffuser already (though running with a temp fix of cable ties and bungee works pretty well).

Personally, i'd get the housing, then put together a diffuser later. I'm guessing that it wouldn't take more than a few minutes to make one from a piece of plastic...
