Cant say I have ever seen a legal sized Paua when I have been diving. I guess they are not really prolific in the north.

I did once managed to get a single legal paua from Gt Barrier Island. There were hundreds upon hundreds of undersized ones, but only one legal. From what I understand, to get the bigger ones, you need to head south to cooler water...

Head to the Wairarapa Coastline around Castelpoint, Tora, Ngawi you'll soon get your limit. Off the shore even. But then you will also get your limit of crays in 1 metres of water...

10 is the limit I believe, or is it 6?? Few locations in Wgtn you'll pick them up but its below 10 metres and my non spearfishing lungs aren't good enough for that breath hold..

Down here in the deep south where the sheep are scared,
They are very large and you can get your max (10) with ease.

I tried to organise a SODS trip to Wellington once and everyone laughed at me.

You do know you are not allowed to scuba for them Scoob?
