Hi there my name is Rob I am a Wellington DM with Splash Gordons,ex Island Bay Divers,I have been diving since my cert date in 1987 as a 12 year old and still havent grown up...

My diving has gone through many different evolutions, only within the last two years have I become actively involved in diving and training.
Being a 7mm long john 16kg weight belt diver for years I never really dived enough to realize that perhaps there was a few things wrong with 45o trim and bashing the bottom of the ocean with my Mares Volo's.
(well possibly not that bad,but definately not that good.)

I have discovered a new style and method of diving and I am enjoying it greatly, its always nice to be dry in the 10 degree Wellington waters, also have been doing a great deal of nightdiving with the Wellington based crew NIGHDIVERS99 and I have been loving it....nightdiving is definately something I particularly enjoy.

Which hsa infact pushed me towards some of the other darker environments,Caves and Wrecks and have discovered some new fabulous dive environs.

Dive gear I dive Halcyon B/P W after a lot of arsing about with numerous different types of back inflation set ups,dry suit as I mentioned I have an Otter Tri-lam(when its dry  ),I have been recently diving twins to get myself in "trim" for the July GUE-F course and am greatly looking forward to this.

I also enjoyed reading Flippers experience on his course on here, nice.
Well thats a bit of a rant.

Regards Rob

Welcome Rob, I hear Wellington is the best city in the world (or at least the lower North Island) for shore based diving..

Welcome, and do enjoy the GUE training. Hope Jamie is as 'detail orientated' as Liam was for us. Must say, I'm getting quite keen on doing Tech1 soon...

Wellington? That's the wet windy place south of the Bombay's innit???! ;)

Thanks for the Welcome guys!!...

And yeah Wellys shore dives are pretty damn good.. :D

I have recently done a couple of dives on the Waikato with Jamie and he put me through my paces,he is very observant and watches wht you do like a hawk.

I could just tell there were a few things that were just screaming at him about my set up...ha ha ha

Long way to go I suspect...
