So is South Africa better off post apartheid or worse?

Is Iraq better off with our Sudam or worse?

Will Auckland be better off as a super city or worse?

What say you?

It's interesting that you consider Auckland in the same category as a South Africa and Iraq.

I think both South Africa and Iraq were better beforehand in tangible measures. With South Africa though, they chose change. In Iraq change was foisted upon them by some halfwit who liked to pretend he was a cowboy.

Hopefully in both cases the situations will improve to a point that we, as well as the people in question, deem it better than before.

Hoorah for the People's Republic of Auckland. There will be a visa waiver system for our comrades from the north but unfortunately aliens from south of the Bombay's may only only enter if as refugees from their oppresive leaders in Wellington.

Here I was thinking I was moving out of Auckland and bugger me...Rodney District will be part of Auckland City. Dunno what my new neighbour and his 250 head of cows think.

South Africa - only good if you are involved in Politics established by UK/USA

Iraq - only good if you are involved with Politics established by UK/USA

Auckland - came in at 11th behind Sydney in the Worlds best 'Liveable' cities. Ironically Sydney is only good if you live in a boat upon the harbour - other than that, you get as far away from the 'city' as possible.
I was more impressed with the Auckland 'Marina' than I was with the city itself.

"250 cows!" That must be a mint as I believe milking cows are worth a heap in NZ?

Rodney has always been tied to Auckland - its in the Auckland Regional Council area (along with North Shore, Waitakare, Auckland, Manukau, Papakura, and Franklin). From an outsider's point a view I think that the unification will make things run a lot smoother. Just don't change the ARC boundaries.

you need to come further north! There's quite a giggle going on up here in Northland about the "super-city" (intentional use of lower case letters there).
6 more weeks and we will be fully out of that mess, and just in time if they are going to start letting the "criminals" from south of the 'hunga across the bridge!

Do they edit the results in the aussie news to make you guys feel better about coming in behind a New Zealand city? ;)

I find it funny Auckland is rated 43rd in city infrastructure while 4th in quality of living.
Maybe because is since we have so many quality shore diving spots!

I don't think Sydney should be rated as a city at all.
A 'Harbour' - yes, a city - no.
Give me Auckland over Sydney any day.
Melbourne is a good city but other than this, I'm more a Rural and Nomad fan rather than City and Suburbs.

Hell no. 250 cows is a very small dairy. I worked dairy in Taranaki as a teenager with 750 cows, took 3 hours to milk the bloody things with a 44 bale rotary. Nowadays you get herds over 1000 cows.
