Here are some pics I took on Saturday afternoon, about 2nm off Optio Bay in Mercury Bay.

Two Humpbacks, breaching for over an hour. One of the coolest things I've seen out there in quite a while.

You lucky SOD! I've seen that sort of carry on a few times at Kaikoura but i've never been that close..

Yeah was pretty cool, there was no one else around either so they weren't too bothered by us. Looked like a mother and calf, as one was much bigger than the other, but they both were jumping all over the show. Was a real treat to see it.
