First of all my apologies for the poor picture quality. My camera isnt playing the game tonight. Must be time to get a G10!!!

Anyway on the left you may just be able to make out my IST'd Q5 led light with the square beam aspheric lens. on the right is my 4x Q5 aspheric lens mag lite head can light project.

15-20 meters????

It makes the Q5 Aspheric look quite pitiful but I did see a slightly worried look on Flippers face over the weekend when I compared it to his 21watt salvo. I reckon after he sees this he will be asking Phil at Divingniknaks for a price on a 35w HID. :D

My P7 Mag on the left and the 4 x Q5 Aspheric on the right!

Specs....

4 Q5 Cree LEDs driven at 1400ma each. Total power consumption is about 21 watt.
Battery is a 12volt SLA but when finnished will probably be NiMh 5 ah I have sitting around.
It has a 3 mode driver just like my other can light giving out puts of High, Higher and OMFG!

Orders are now being taken.

So how many lumens does each of the Q5s kick out? Default appears to be around 225 lumens per LED?

225 at 1000ma. These are driven at 1400ma though. My guess would be 260 lumen so still well short of a 21 watt HID but its the way they are focused.

Fark me. Now that is impressive.
Bet you'd forget not to look into the light while turning it on only once...

Care to divulge your parts list?
Was it all from DX?

Actually, maybe don't tell me - I'm having enough trouble finishing my P7 as it is...

Parts list.

C mag or D
Kai 3 mode P7 driver
4x Q5 LED on 16mm base
4 aspheric lenses as used in the IST mod
Custom heat sink ( You can get one from "sandwich shop")
custom lens spacer
DX 52mm lens

Cost is not much more than P7 mag. Its just the heat sink that costs more and a few$$ for the LEDS

This pic shows the light head in bits. The heat sink has 4 16mm star Q5 LEDs on the front and the driver is mounted on the back.
The white rings around the handle are part of the rotating switch which I may or may not use at this stage. The head has been finned to allow for better cooling (actually I just did it because I was bored and had a new toy).

This shows the assembled head with the 4 aspheric lenses. White PVC tube helps space the lens about 10mm away from the LED to focus it.
