Hurricanes Caned. Now just got to beat either the bulls or the crusasders.
Hopefully the crusaders win so we will host the final.

Any chiefs supporters out there?

Who ever heard of a Hurricane in the Southern Hemisphere?
Union must be a Yankee game
Real football is Australian Rules.
Funny how no Kiwis can't adapt to this code of Football.
Must be toooooo hard a sport?

Ah yes. I can even remember Darren Bennett playing Gridiron in the States and as just a kicker, he still knocked out cold a linebacker with a typical Aussie Rules covering tackle. Simply awesome!

It's fitting that you compare Aussie Rules to gridiron, as they are both examples of disciplines that came about so that they didn't have to compete with anyone else except themselves. They can hold a "world cup" competition each year without having to worry about other countries bothering to turn up.

At least when we lose the world cup we actually lose it to somebody :-)

And why exactly aren't we allowed hurricanes in the Southern hemisphere? I think the Wellington members might be inclined not to agree with you, not because it is their rugby team, but because of the weather they have had today.

I've spent nearly the entire day today in Welly clambering on roofs in winds gusting up to 120+Kmph... So technically a class 1 hurricane..

Australian Rules against the (Eire)Irish but the Irish found the Australians too 'physical' in their style of play (just like World Soccer finds the domesticated Socceroos a bit too rough and prefers to accept only overseas based players who have been 'softened up') and translated it as a 'fight' - since then there have been no more Irish/Aust games because the Australian style was just too rough for the Irish to keep their nerve.

Northern Hemisphere (Heaven/the Past)= Hurricanes
Southern Hemisphere (Hell/the Future)= Cyclones
Wellington Windstorms sounds tacky but better than Hurricanes.
Proof that Union is a Yankee game.

...mind you, in Rugby League (that dismal code at the moment that tries to compete with Australian Rules) - there are more storms in Sydney than in Melbourne, so how the Melbourne Storm got their name in the city of 'drizzle' is beyond me? But thats League!

VP Aussie rules is just another modified Australian sport..
How did they come up with the name you think?

Has the same concept as a game of forceback, but with goal posts

GN - trip to Sth Africa - 3 points for a droppy is kinda rude, long trip for them!

There's a fight wether the game was made by Irish-Aussies or Abo-Aussies. I tend to go with the Abo-Aussies as it has two teams : Richmond and Essendon who's jerseys are based upon the Red-belly Black snake and Yellow-belly Black Snake, rather than than a Bomber and Tiger.
Hard to say though really.
Really great running game and the average size of a player is 6ft...unless you're aboriginal.
Awesome sight seeing a player leap in full flight up upon the back of another leaping player to take the ball...hold on, thats what League as to do to score tries these days
Force-mans-back! Now there was a game. Me thinks you are an Aussie Taz or I just didn't realise that the game was so popular. I thought this game only belonged in Sydney's high density housing commission areas to write-off some kids as roadkill?
Tell me - did you play brandings as well (wet ball too  ) :?:

VS - USA is in the Northern Hemisphere, USA is not the entire Northern Hemisphere. Check an atlas or a globe - there are plenty of other countries in the Northern Hemisphere besides USA.

And judging by the dismal uptake of Aussie Rules in any country except the land of the convicts I would say nobody else likes the game. So why bring it up?

Ah yes, but it is UNION
and you can't get any more Unionised than the Yanks (see Civil War) with their United States and their newly aquisitioned colony in Europe - the United Kingdom
It took some Canadians, Yanks and others to form the Eureka Stockade to fly the Eureka Flag down Victoria way, but it has more success these days flying for the (dare I say it) 'Unions' out of Queensland.
I could go on about all the Bikers merging under the 'Rebels' Biker Gang who fly the Confederate Flag, but...

BullRush! That was excellent. They ban all the good games and it's probably why 'violence' is spilling over into less productive/constructive methods - not good to ban creativity, even if it is a bit rough.

VS, you have an amazing ability to leave me totally dumbfounded. I'm sure that it relates to rugby somehow, and that there is logic in there somewhere, but it is far, far too advanced for the likes of me.

This is why the Cops always let me off. Imagine the shit I would bring up in a Court of Law as my defence. The poor Judge would be shaking his head in his hands moaning "Please - I can't take it any more!"

...just gotta stay clear of those Ferals though.
