Those flexy hoses, are they really better than the normal hoses cause the flexy costs twice as much?

The advantage is that it is much lighter, probably good for air travelling. Then again, i don't know much lighter.

So any of you had one/some?

Thanks in advance all.

Are they better? It's a bit difficult to answer that, but they certainly are a little different to regular hoses. They're meant to be tougher and last longer,,, but then again, regular hoses last for ages anyway.\
I got a full set, but I got them in the UK at a mental exchange rate, VAT free, and I like them. Mostly because the bend really easily and make up for the shite hose routing of DS4s when using twins (there, I said it,,, that wasn't too bad eh!?). Also the Miflex high pressure hoses look way cool!

I was looking through some of my hose collections today.
Found one 25 years since its last "service". Looked as good as new.

Are the new Miflex any good? Good at getting a few extra $$ from ill informed divers and also good at fixing problems of poor hose routing caused by badly designed 1st stages.

As for saving weight for air travel.... Perhaps you shouldnt be eating that Big Mac before boarding.

Having said that they look really cool and the HP hoses are like sex on toast ( so I am told, since I have never had sex on toast before).

Still... If it aint broke dont bother fixing it.... Ill keep my old generation hoses for a few decades yet I think. Goes with my Old school 2nd stages.

Hi Flipper,

I plan to have my reg serviced at the end of the year. This reg is the one I will use as my octi. I would likely purchase a new hose to make it a 7ft long octi, mine as well i buy the Myflex one. I believe it is recommended to have 7ft long for an Octi on doubles, is this correct? or it doesn't matter?

Is the colour of the Octi hose a matter?

By the way, what is the length of a drysuit hose? I think it is longer than normal bc hose.

Thanks for the input

No, you dont use a 7ft hose on your "octi" usually. Most use a 7ft hose for their primary 2nd stage and a 22 inch on the octi or backup reg. The use of a 7ft hose is mainly in cave or wreck diving where a diver and an OOG buddy cant exit side by side but one in front of the other. In open water it can also be advantageous by giving your OOG buddy some space.
Colour does not matter. If your buddy needs gas they take the reg in your mouth. They know where it is, they know it works and they know it should be the right gas for the depth.

Length of drysuit hose is dependant on where your dry suit inflator is and how you choose to route your hose. I think mine is slightly longer than my wing inflator but I would have to check to be sure.

I have replaced the backup, inflator and HP hoses on my rig with miflex and think they're great. The routing with the FSTs is not as bad as the DS4s but it still makes the bends nicer..

Thanks for the input guys,

I have bought myflex for the 7ft hose for US$65. I think in New Zealand is about NZ$160.

You can pick up a 7foot miflex from Niknaks for $78NZD landed.
