Well its finally up and running!
Pumps about 140 LPM so will fill a 12L tank from empty in about 20 minutes.
Electric or pull start.
Weighs about the same as a small car. In fact if I fit some wheels to it and run a V belt to them I could drive it to the dive site!

nice work. when you say will 'fill' a 12L tank...just how full do you mean? the standard Dive T fill of 190bar...or a little more than that?!!

Cant recall the last time I got 190 bar fills anywhere ( That I ever returned too).
No I mean fill as in fill to rated pressure. EG 232bar.
Although the compressor has a 220bar pressure relief valve (adjustable of course) it is rated to 260 bar. I have been told 300 bar isnt out of the question. Probably set it to 240 bar to allow for cooling down.

Nice one! Hope your neighbours like you :)
Nothing like the sound of a compressor in the morning.

Is that to be used for SODS trips? If so, how much do we member need to pay for a fill?

No its not for SODs trips. Although the possibility is there to use it. Its quite surprising how expensive it is to run a small compressor. Air purity checks, filters, oil and maintenance not to mention fuel. It all adds up pretty quick. Then there is the cost of certification for the operator and the original outlay for the equipment. Just spent a small fortune buying hoses and stainless connections so we can have the filter stacks separate from the rest of the unit. I guess the more you use it the cheaper it gets.
So in short if we do use it for SODs trips dont expect to pay discount prices. Its all about convenience.

Just did a back-of-a-fag-packet calculation, I reckon if the unit were to do about 100 fills per year, with the unit being written off over 5 years, cost per fill would be around $20 - $30 per bottle. Bargain!

I once talked to a guy who had one on his yacht; rekoned it was about $2 - $2.50 just for the diesel and that was a couple of years ago.

And with most machinery the fuel is only a small part of the running cost.

I guess $6-7 at the local isn't that bad.

Its pretty good really. In saying that I pay $6 for my twin set. Problem is they will not come to remote locations to fill it up between dives! If they would I would happily pay twice that!

Don't compare the cost of a fill from a mobile compressor with that of a dive shop.
Compare it to the cost of doing a 5 hour round trip from the Lermontov to Picton & back,,, or the cost of bare boat charter vs the cost of a charter equipped with compressor. Then it all makes sense 8)
